Hello everyone, long time no talk!

I have been a busy, busy girl and unfortunately this has impacted my ability to read as well as write my blog posts! I’m trying to not let this effect my blog too much though, I will continue to post as frequently as possible!

Moving on to this novel! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this novel for review from Raincoast Books, a wonderful company I have the pleasure of working with! So, thank you to them!

Alright, let’s jump right into the review!

Plot:
Nineteen-year-old Elias is a royal explorer, a skilled mapmaker, and the new king of del Mar’s oldest friend. Soon he will embark on the adventure of a lifetime, an expedition past the Strait of Cain and into uncharted waters. Nothing stands in his way…until a long-ago tragedy creeps back into the light, threatening all he holds dear.

The people of St. John del Mar have never recovered from the loss of their boy princes, kidnapped eighteen years ago, both presumed dead. But when two maps surface, each bearing the same hidden riddle, troubling questions arise. What really happened to the young heirs? And why do the maps appear to be drawn by Lord Antoni, Elias’s father, who vanished on that same fateful day? With the king’s beautiful cousin by his side—whether he wants her there or not—Elias will race to solve the riddle of the princes. He will have to use his wits and guard his back. Because some truths are better left buried…and an unknown enemy stalks his every turn.

This novel was one that I definitely knew I was going to love, but I didn’t realize how much. Reading this novel was such a pleasure, and it was honestly one that I found myself not wanting to put down.

This novel is a fun adventure story that had a mystery element I found myself becoming very involved with. I was actively trying to figure out the mystery behind the plot, and I found this process to be so much fun.

Characters

I think that Makiaa Lucier did such a wonderful job creating the characters for this novel. Everyone was so loveable and well written, you couldn’t help but root for each and every one of them.

Our main character, Elias, was such an honest and kind protagonist to follow. Every choice he made just made you fall even more in love with him. Elias is the perfect example of a character that is written to be so pure of heart without having many, or any, flaws.

Also, I’d like to mention Reyna as the cutest little girl in the world. Anytime she was mentioned or we saw her in the novel I was just happy to hear about her!

Writing

All I have to say about Makiaa’s writing is that it is flawless. I love her use of the setting to make the plot more interesting, especially since we are met with so many different settings within this novel.

Makiaa is a fantastic author and I’m thrilled that I was able to find out how amazing the writing really is, through this novel.

Plot

I really recommend that everyone picks up this novel.

Not only is it an amazingly fun story, but it also features so many fun mystery elements. This fantasy novel isn’t your typical, magic is everywhere, novel. Instead it has wonderful sea creatures as well as a super fun romance you can’t help but love.

I think that if you’re a fan of adventures, good characters and a cute romance, you should pick this wonderful novel up. You can thank me later!

That concludes my review for Isle of Blood and Stone by Makiaa Lucier!

Thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to follow my blog as well as my other social media sites!

Until next time,

Wonderful review! I’ve started to see this one make its rounds and the cover drew my attention. At first glance I really did think it was da book about dragons but I’ll take sea creatures any day 🙌🏼 I think Fantasy paired up with mystery tends to be a good combo when done right, I’m glad the author pulled this off nicely. Adding to my TBR 💜
